At-sea GPS tracks of little penguins (Eudyptula minor) tagged at three colonies around Storm Bay (Boronia Beach, Wedge Island and Bruny Island Neck), Tasmania, Australia over the 2015/16 summer breeding season.

Latest version published by CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere on Nov 25, 2019 CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere

This data contains at-sea GPS tracks of little penguins (Eudyptula minor) tagged at three colonies around Storm Bay, Tasmania (Boronia Beach, Wedge Island and Bruny Island Neck) over the 2015/16 summer breeding season. This data was collected as part of an honours thesis submitted in 2016. Metadata details are at http://metadata.imas.utas.edu.au/geonetwork/srv/eng/metadata.show?uuid=db737c5a-708f-4929-b0f6-376366a8a5a5

The tracking data occurrences is complimented with the deployment and retrieval times (occurrenceids tagged with -deploy and -retrive respectively). Additional information of the number of chicks in the nest, their estimated age, the bill biometrics of the adult bird and its weight upon deployment are linked to the initial deployment record.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 12,731 records. 1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

  • Occurrence (core)
    12731
  • ExtendedMeasurementOrFact
    221

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
