Latest version published by CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere on Jan 4, 2019 CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere

The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) Coelenterate Collection, established in 1981, consists of about 17,000 databased specimens. The majority of the specimens have been collected from locations in Northern Australia. The collection includes 108 holotypes and 242 paratypes. The collection mainly focuses on shallow water tropical species from the Indo-Pacific, but also includes deep water material from Southern Australia. The collection also includes a small amount of comparative material from the rest of the world. Specimens can be lent to workers at other institutions upon application and the MAGNT also welcomes visiting researchers. The collection was established in 1981 and continues to the present.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 13,213 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
