Queensland Museum Birds - marine records

Latest version published by CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere on Mar 5, 2019 CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere

The bird collection focuses on Queensland and Papua New Guinea regions, documenting an historical record of species distributions, past and present. Skin, skeleton and spirit collections dating back to the 1870s, including extinct species, provide a valuable reference resource for biological and ecological studies. These holdings are supplemented with more than 5,000 egg clutches and 300 nests.

This dataset is of marine species sourced from the Atlas of Living Australia (ALA) January 2019 (https://collections.ala.org.au/public/show/co151). Taxa have been matched to the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) and if not then matched to the Australian Faunal Directory (AFD)

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 2,637 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
